This blog is about the main points in "The People Formerly Known as the Audience, By Jay Rosen"
Jay Rosen is a professor of journalism at New York University. He
chronicles the shifts taking place in journalism on his blog entitled Pressthink.
In The People Formerly Known as the Audience
he talks about the implications of citizens finding their voice in the
new media and how this changes the relationship between journalists and
what was formerly called their audience. He also describes the power
shift of the media from big media corporations into their audience.
He
highlights that audience start to spread their own message through new
platforms such as blogs, podcasts and video editing software; therefore,
they start to take hold of the power to share with others everythings
can be shared.
In closing statements, Rosen states that new media is giving us the tools to be no longer owned by Big Media.
